OWNERS LOVE THESE 4 THINGS ABOUT THE NEW VOLVO EXCAVATORS

August 28th, 2024

Volvo excavators were recently redesigned inside and out — it’s the biggest update to the excavator line in two decades.

The newest Volvo excavator models have been upgraded to be more productive and efficient to help you get outstanding results. The new range also looks great and is purpose-built to address the evolving challenges of the construction industry.

Below are four updates we think owners and fleet managers will appreciate most:

  1. Better fuel efficiency: It’s hard to believe, but the already fuel-efficient excavators are now even better about reducing the amount of fuel they use. This is thanks to a newly optimized electro-hydraulic system, plus a host of efficiency-boosting features like a smart cooling system and engine speed regulation that offers higher torque at a lower rpm. Put it all together, and you’ll experience up to a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency. Lowering fuel costs has always been a passion for Volvo — it’s better for the environment and excellent for your bottom line.

  2. Easier operator precision: Excavator operation takes skill — and many of the operators already excel at what they do. But with automated boom and bucket movements and an advanced electric control joystick, they’ll experience smoother operation with more precise control. That means quicker project completions and fewer chances of unexpected rework so you can move on to your next big job.

  3. Safer than ever: Safety has always been our top priority, and Volvo knows it’s yours too. That’s why this new concept makes it even safer for your operators and anyone around them. A couple obvious updates include additional safety railings and relocated footsteps to make cab entry/exit easier. But operators can also preset limits on their boom’s depth, height and swing to help them avoid obstacles. To take it a step further, these machines also come with Volvo Smart View with Obstacle Detection. This feature uses a camera and radar to give operators a 360° view of their surroundings and alerts them of obstacles (identifying them as an object or human). Benefiting from deep learning technology, operators get alerts if objects or other crew members are detected nearby or even far away.

  4. Modern exterior design: Volvo excavators have always looked great, and now they have an updated, sleek design that’s sure to get noticed immediately. Looks matter — your crews, customers and anyone else driving past the jobsites are sure to be impressed with the new design. And Volvo anticipates that you’ll see further benefits with higher resale values down the road.
